LABTOC ®

Product Literature
Labtoc

LABTOC ® is a fast, reliable and highly accurate system for the laboratory analysis of sample water.

Simple to use, LABTOC® can be used by laboratory technicians with the minimum of training and still be relied upon to produce precisely accurate TOC and/or TC values from single or multiple samples with a range from 0-10 ppm to 0-4000 ppm.

LABTOC® consists of an organics analyser, based on proven PPM PROTOC® chemical technology, an auto sampler capable of feeding between one and eighty eight seperate samples to the analyser during a single run, and an IBM-compatible PC with exclusive, user friendly software, which both controls the analytical process and monitors the results.

Principle Of Operation

LABTOC® analysers use an ultra-violet - UV promoted persulphate oxidation, to determine the contamination of dissolved organic chemicals present in the sample. Various configurations are possible for TC - Total Carbon, TOC - Total Organic Carbon and TOC by difference (reporting the combined dissolved and volatile components). Firstly, inorganic carbonates can be automatically removed by sample pre-treatment using an acid sparge. A sample with reagent is then injected in to the reaction vessel. The vessel is continuously sparged by a carrier gas (typically nitrogen) liberating any CO2 gas, generated through oxidation. The resultant evolved CO2 is delivered to an Infra-red detection system. The CO2 plot is integrated and compared against a calibration curve to determine the reportable value.

Control And Monitoring Options

The LABTOC® analyser is controlled by PPM's exclusive Labmon Windows based software operating on an IBM compatible PC. Data is graphically displayed and stored to floppy disc for latter retrieval. The analyser may also be configured for automatic batch analysis using an auto-sampler and either a 48 or 90 place carousel.
