MLSS measurement with auto-cleaning
The IQ Sensor Net system is a digital controller allowing multiple sensor connection including the Visolid sensor, providing in-situ determination of Mixed Liquor Suspended Solids (MLSS). The submersible probe technology is ideally suited to monitoring activated sludge applications, either directly mounted into the aeration ditch or inserted into a pressurised pipe for RAS and SAS applications.
- Latest back-scatter IR technology
- No limitation on measurement concentration
- Multiple point gravimetric correlation curve
- Continuous or pulsed ultrasonic cleaning
- Robust stainless steel construction
- Digital interfacing over long distances
- Low purchase price
- Multiple sensor connection
The Visolid system uses the very latest digital measurement technology to reliably report the suspended solids (SS) concentrations. Measurements are automatically referenced to a primary calibration profile performed under specific factory conditions. The Visolid sensor configuration menu allows the user to either select established sludge profiles or compile a site specific correlation curve. Typically, the site specific profile only requires the preparation of three samples of known and representative gravimetric SS concentration to establish an accurate calibration curve although up to seven may actually be used. The Visolid outperforms many of it's rivals by not assuming a straight line relationship across the complete measurement range where only a single point of calibration can then be used. The ability to accurately establish a non-linear correlation curve has demonstrated on many occasions why this approach is far superior to providing accurate and reliable process measurement.
The Visolid sensor also provides for a dynamic range of measurement with practically no limitation on full scale measurement to 1,000mg/L SS. Consequently high strength MBR sludge may be monitored even above 20,000mg/L SS. The sensor is able to self-maintain reliable measurement without user intervention as it incorporated continuous ultrasonic cleaning as standard.
Various controller configurations are available for allowing up to twenty sensor connections and a variety of interfaces including PROFIBUS communications. The controllers are rated to IP66 and can be mounted directly in the field or within small secondary enclosures to allow a standard installation. The technology has been widely installed and is complimented by an extensive range of digital sensors for many other key waste water determinants such as ammonium, nitrate, DO and pH allowing a unified approach across the site.
