AMTOX ® Laboratory

Product Literature
Amtox Lab

AMTOX® is a fast, reliable and reproducible analyser methodology, to determine the toxicity of water and waste-water samples. The laboratory AMTOX® system comprises, a bench mount analyser section with a touch screen controller, providing local display and data recording.

Principle of Operation

AMTOX® technology uses a large population of immobilised nitrobacta - nitrification bacteria, to compute the degree of toxicity of a filtered sample. The percentage removal of ammonical-nitrogen, is proportional to the nitrification inhibition and the toxicity of the sample. Ammonia can be dosed into the sample, if feed concentrations are below required values. The ammonia removal is analysed using ion-selective technology, which is calibrated using known standards.

Control and Monitoring Options

The data is continuously displayed on a touch screen and achived to a hard disc drive. Both acute toxicity (typically operating over a few minutes) and chronic toxicity (taking many days) can be identified, on a single instrument. An on-line version is available for continuous measurement also providing analogue and alarm outputs, to alarm acceptable events to telemetry.
